Her company offers her a free wedding as part of a promotion and the two agree to get married more out of obligation than actually wanting to. She is very organized, dull and not a dog lover. Last in Jonathan's limited world is his girlfriend Julie, who has all the personality and warmth of a head of lettuce. Jonathan's boss is a cringe-worthy individual with little supervisory skills and surprising wealth that is unexplained by his current position.

He has custody of his brother James' two dogs, Sissy and Dante, while his brother is working in Dubai. Jonathan is a young man trying to get his life together. Meg Rosoff is clearly not a male, yet I found her book from the male perspective utterly convincing as a narrator and a charmingly flawed character I was eager to know more about from the beginning. I would definitely rank it up there as one of the best I have ever read, and I have read A LOT of books.
